Systems and Integrating Technology

 

 

Course Overview

 

This course seeks to provide an opportunity, early in the programme of study, to begin to engage students in integrating, in the context of problem solving, a range of knowledge and skills drawn from across the technical, engineering and science elements of their programme of study.

 

This course aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply and integrate discreet areas of technology, forms of knowledge and specific and generic skills. This aim is set within problem solving activities as a natural context for developing this aspect of technological capability. 

 

Outcomes include:

 

  • Demonstrate a systematic approach to problem analysis and problem solving.

  • Apply knowledge and specific and generic skills in a problem solving context .

  • Develop a range of solutions in responding to a problem brief.

  • Evaluate solutions critically and constructively.

  • Communicate and present ideas, solutions and prototypes using appropriate media.

  • Reflect on such skills as communication, teamwork, leadership, planning, initiative and self-awareness.
