In response to Teaching Scotland's Future, we are developing a new Degree Programme to compliment and build upon the existing Honours courses that we teach. This programme is in consultation at the moment and is subject to approval by the Academic Standards Committee within the University of Glasgow.

The new Programme will go live in September 2017 and all students entering into Year 1 BTechEd (Hons) via UCAS will be eligible to move onto the MTechEd pathway. The new Degree will incorporate multiple entry points into Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 with appropriate exit points throughout the programme of study.

In Year 4, students can chose to graduate with a Bachelor of Technological Education (Honours) which will allow them to teach in Scottish Secondary Schools. Alternatively, students can choose to enter into GTCS (General Teaching Council Scotland) probation and during this extended 5th year of study, they will complete online courses and then graduate post-probation with a Masters in Technology Education with Teaching Qualification. It will not be possible to graduate with both Degrees and once the credits have been used, they cannot be applied elsewhere.

The diagram below illustrates the proposed new Programme - this is subject to amendments.

If you would like to know more about the MTechEd, please contact the Degree Programme Leader, Mr Lee Dunn.
